My Assignment for IMT 540A. This is ridiculous, sentimental drivel. I love it.

Hansel is taking a walk along Golden Gardens Beach in Ballard, as he often has since coming to Seattle, remembering the amazing times he and his wife and kids used to have at Bondi Beach in Sydney.  It’s one of the few sunny days he’s seen this late in the fall, and he can’t wait for the Christmas break so that he can return to Australia to be with his family for the holidays.  As he looks out over the ocean, the sun glistening on the waves (not as big as the ones in Australia!), he is transported to a memory he has of he and his wife, some years ago as young lovers on a beach not unlike this one.

He must share this moment with his wife!  Hansel and his wife both recently purchased and connected their Together handhelds, so that they can share moments just like these with each other.  He pulls his from his pocket, clicks the unlock button on the side, touches the picture of her on the screen, and begins to talk, without missing a thought.  “I had to show this sunset to you. It reminds me of that trip we took to Kauai the year after we got married. Do you remember? We had no money so we spent all our time prowling the beaches, looking for sunsets.  I miss you.” He presses the button with the video icon on the side of the device and points it out to the ocean, capturing the sinking sun and the waves for a few seconds before pressing send.

Elizabeth is sleeping, but when she wakes up, she’ll check her device, see that there is a new entry from Hansel, and be able to hear this message, in the moment as much as possible, from across the ocean.
